Benbrook Marina has been around for quite some time. Long enough to have customers and their boats that have been around since the 1980’s!  But in the past several years a new trend has taken shape, a trend that during the latter part of the the summer as the water levels start to decrease and the sail boats start to hit bottom, everyone pulls their boats out of the water and the marina dries up. When the marina dries up what is left is a desolate, ghostly  looking marina with a few boats left right where they settled. These few boats, all sail boats, are here due to the owners not having trailers or the boats not being abled to be trailered. They are left in the mud with hulls exposed and all of the weight resting on the keel fin. This would seem like a travesty to most and to the owners it probably is, but for the few unfortunate there is no other way. These owners are forced to do repairs and to maintain their vessels all while the lake is low and the boats are laying on their sides. Although it looks like certain doom for the marina and for the boats, the lake will again rise and the boats will right themselves and the  marina will be alive once again! With my images I tried capturing this unique time for this marina in a lifeless tone. I wanted to tell a story of abandonment, and decay.
